A challenge I’ve been wanting to play for a while now is the Occult Legacy Challenge. I haven’t spent nearly as much time as I thought I would playing occults since I tend to always gravitate to wholesome, family oriented gameplay when I’m just goofing off in the game. And then it’s play to Gen 2 or 3 and then restart because things get boring, rinse and repeat. I have a feeling I’m not the only one. So I wanted to spice things up a bit and give this challenge a go.
I created the character for Gen 1 over a year ago and never had the courage to actually play. An added challenge was deciding if I wanted to attempt this on Twitch or Youtube, but I’ve made the decision that life is just too darn hectic to try to edit videos and stream with working full time, two toddler boys (who are absolutely FERAL) and a new house we are trying to renovate. So instead I created this website to house all my creative outlets and capture my gameplay. I always enjoyed storytelling, and previously had some success under my previous username SimmerDownSouth. But I’ve abandoned the South for a large number of reasons and decided to rebrand as SideQuestSimmer which better reflect my personality anyway.
So with this entirely long-winded Pinterest cooking-blog style introduction, I welcome you all to the start of the Occult Legacy Challenge created by Asphodel Moon.
This challenge will start with our unassuming yet adorable founder, Quentin Murphy.

On top of the traits that he’s required to have per the challenge rules (Paranoid, Genius, and Socially Awkward), I’ve given him a few likes and dislikes as well as removed any and all desire to have any kind of emotional or physical relationship. Afterall, any children will need to be the product of Alien abduction. Poor fella.
I’m keeping aging on Normal for all Sims to keep story progression moving, and with the release of the Enchanted by Nature pack, the only setting I’m leaving active on that will be the Luck system. I don’t want to have to fuss with ailments at this point. But while we’re on the topic of that, I probably want to tweak the rules a smidge and throw in a Fairy Sim at some point since it’s now an option! I’ll have to do a but of research to see where that makes the most sense (or causes the most mayhem).
Below is an excellent rendering of the purpose of Gen 1 found on Tumblr along with the rest of the generational rules, background, and goals.

And with that brief introduction, let’s get on with the show!
